La Bouche Manouche

Feat. Irene Serra

We are a vintage jazz band influenced by the chic and sophisticated era of the jazz age and beyond. Our repertoire is rooted in the sound of gypsy jazz, with swing tunes from Django Reinhardt, as well as traditional gypsy swing tunes, charlestons, French chansons, bal musette and classic jazz standards from the Great American Songbook.

We came together over a love of all things vintage and sophisticated! I am a self-proclaimed sassy girl that loves singing old jazz tunes, drinking G&T’s and dancing the night away in the swingiest jazz joints! Joined by some of the hottest players in London, La Bouche Manouche was formed one hazy evening in a smoky Jazz Club in London Town when we took to the stage with our brand of sultry and vibrant jazz and wowed the crowds.

With myself on vocals, Nathan Mansfield on soaring violin, Andy Ruiz Palma and Simon Rawling on melodic, rhythmic and pumping guitars, all underpinned by the solid and tasteful bass of Amy Baldwin, we’re here to bring this timeless music right up close and personal.

"Got A Little Rhythm!" New Release

"...Sublime Vocals..." - Jazz FM

From Django to Billie Holiday, Sidney Bechet to Monk, Gypsy Jazz to Swing, “Got a Little Rhythm!” takes you on a journey through some of our favourite tunes arranged in our own style. Put it on anytime to join us with foot tapping fun, a quick dance, quiet reflection or a good old sing-along. The breath-taking beauty of Irene Serra’s vocals blends perfectly with the string ensemble of swinging violin, rhythmic guitars and solid double bass and some tasty well-crafted trumpet melodies too. In this album, each voice of the band has a chance to shine, soar and weave on the rhythmic base they emerge from. From its opening and evocative “Joseph Joseph” to the last cheery but driving “Sunny Side of Street”, we hope this album adds a little rhythm to your day.

"Roseland" Debut Album

"...graceful and sensual..." - All About Jazz

Our debut album “Roseland” is the culmination of music made at many gigs combined with a love of Gypsy Jazz and Swing music and a desire to present our interpretation of these classic tunes in a collection. The tunes are all chosen for their evocation of times past. Although Roseland by name invokes the famed Roseland Ballroom in New York City cited in the song Rose Room, it is also perhaps the Rose in La Vie En Rose that allows us to look back on a colourful history of music and bring forward the beauty and positivity to the times we are in.
